Silence Day commemorates Avatar Meher Baba's 44 years of silence. On this day, always July 10, followers of Meher Baba maintain silence for 24 hours.
Meher Baba retired in seclusion on the night of July 9, 1925, in Meherabad, India. The next morning, July 10, He stepped out keeping silence, which He maintained for 44 years until He dropped His physical form.
Meher Mount is inviting all who are interested to visit and enjoy the silence at Meher Mount from Noon to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, July 10, 2020. The Visitor Center and rest rooms remain closed due to COVID-19.
Silence Day is an opportunity for personal, inward moments with the Avatar on this land blessed by His presence.
When Meher Baba visited Meher Mount in 1956, He said, "I want you all to close your eyes for five minutes. Do not think of anything, just think of Baba." (Source: Lord Meher)
