Baba's Walkway
“I love Meher Mount very, very much.”
- Avatar Meher Baba, 1956
“So, on one of the occasions when Baba called me” into the Baba Room, remembered caretaker Agnes Baron, “He was looking very solemn and very impressive as only Baba can look.”
He stood in the middle of the room and said, “I want Agni to know that I love Meher Mount very, very much.” He used His typical gesture of “very, very much. I am very happy.”
“He really beamed. He just glowed,” Agnes said. “He just gestured, ‘very, very happy.’ And He looked it.”
There are remains of a flagstone path that led Avatar Meher Baba and His followers to the guesthouse and the ‘Baba Room’ where He gave darshan (His blessing) to all those with Him in 1956.
Buried for more than 30 years after the 1985 New Life Fire, Baba’s Walkway re-emerged during clean-up and restoration efforts after the 2017 Thomas Fire. It is one of the few remaining artifacts of Meher Baba’s visit.
The flagstones are being restored and preserved as another touchstone of the Avatar’s presence at Meher Mount.
