Connect with the Divine
“I come down to your level so that we can laugh and be free together; but do not forget at the same time that I am the Highest of the High.” - Avatar Meher Baba at Meher Mount, 1956
An Invisible Fountain of Spiritual Energy
Meher Baba sanctified Meher Mount with His presence when He visited on August 2, 1956. Many visitors feel an invisible fountain of spiritual energy.
“Avatar Meher Baba has provided us with a gateway to our higher self through His presence. The people and places He has touched can help us feel His presence and bring us closer to Him.” — A Volunteer
Meher Mount is one of those chosen places — and accessible to all.
Baba’s Tree
One visitor came to Meher Mount wishing for a peaceful moment. He found so much more at Baba’s Tree.
“The silence I felt was so intense I thought that I couldn’t handle it. It filled me completely.” — A Visitor
A touch point for many visitors and a symbol of Meher Baba's presence is Baba's Tree, the Coast Live Oak (Quercus agrifolia) on the brow of the mountain overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
For many, it is a means of remembering Him. Others find inspiration, solace, and rejuvenation spending time under Baba's Tree.
Baba’s Fireplace & Darshan Courtyard
During Meher Baba’s visit, He gave darshan (His blessing) to those with Him in the ‘Baba Room’ of the guesthouse.
“This afternoon, you all have a chance to laugh and feel relaxed. I come down to your level so that we can laugh and be free together; but do not forget at the same time that I am the Highest of the High.” — Avatar Meher Baba
In 1985, wildfire swept through Meher Mount destroying all the buildings, including the guesthouse and the ‘Baba Room.’
Yet, the stone fireplace-chimney — Baba’s Fireplace — remained as a reminder of His visit and His presence in our lives.
The Darshan Courtyard — next to Baba’s Fireplace — is to be an intimate space that evokes the atmosphere of the ‘Baba Room,’ where visitors can reflect, meditate, take in the views, enjoy the outdoors, and remember the Divine.
Baba’s Walkway
“The echoes of Meher Baba’s footsteps are always there.” — A Visitor
The flagstone path that led Meher Baba and His followers to the ‘Baba Room’ where He gave darshan (His blessing) contains the echoes of Meher Baba’s footsteps.
Buried for more than 30 years after the 1985 New Life Fire, Baba’s Walkway re-emerged during cleanup and restoration efforts after the 2017 Thomas Fire.
The flagstones are being restored and preserved as another touchstone of the Avatar’s presence at Meher Mount.
Baba’s Path
“So, Baba was walking up this hill, and I tell you, you could not keep up with Him. He just floated over the air.” — Marguerite Poley
After Meher Baba spent time alone under Baba’s Tree, He rose swiftly and led the group back up the dusty trail. Everyone followed — panting to keep pace.
Today, all who visit, are fortunate to be able to walk in the footsteps of the Avatar of the Age on Baba’s Path.
Avatar’s Point
“Now, go out and see the view and try to love Baba [God] through nature.” — Avatar Meher Baba
Meher Mount is blessed with spectacular views in all directions. At the southwest bluff – known as Avatar’s Point – the panorama overlooks the Pacific Ocean, the Channel Islands, and the Santa Monica Mountains.
Avatar’s Point is an ideal spot for reflection, relaxation, and a beautiful moment to love God through nature.
"If you are at all a sensitive or intuitive personality, and you visit this place with an open heart, your universe may be changed forever. There is a powerful vibration resonant here, and it is the vibration of Divine Wisdom and Love.” — A Visitor
