Meher Baba in Portofino
"Do not be confused; do not struggle. Do not change the mode of your life, but make an effort with all your heart to create longing to be one with God. This longing will make you see the Self." — Avatar Meher Baba
Meher Baba traveled from India to the West nine times.
Unless in seclusion, Meher Baba often met with individuals interested in seeing Him. One day in Italy in 1933, Meher Baba welcomed a Russian army officer, a good-hearted Italian, and a worldly young professor of philosophy.
The professor came to debate and challenge Meher Baba.
After peppering Meher Baba with questions, the professor was prompted by an uncontrollable inner anger and abruptly interrupted Meher Baba.
Turning to one of Meher Baba’s disciples the professor said, “Tell your Master that he has not given me any new answers. He has repeated all over again the old, worn-out formula for Truth!"
Meher Baba, immovable in His Divine bliss, merely smiled with benign humor and instantly solved this embarrassing situation by putting His hand on the excited man's head and, looking deep into his eyes, settled the mental storm at once.
