You are invited to Meher Mount on Saturday, February 25, 2023, from 11:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., for the Open House to celebrate Avatar Meher Baba's birthday.
There will be a potluck lunch, tea and cake, and an informal program of music and readings.
The event is free and open to all.
Avatar Meher Baba’s Birthday
Each year, Meher Baba’s followers around the world gather to celebrate the birthday — February 25 — of the Avatar of the Age, Meher Baba.
Avatar is the manifestation or descent of God in human form on earth. Also called the God-Man, the Messiah, the Buddha, the Christ, the Rasool, and the Ancient One.
February 25, 1894, is the birth date of Merwan Sheriar Irani, known as Meher Baba, meaning "compassionate father."

In the event of rain, all activities will be inside the Visitor Center.
11:30 a.m.: Meher Mount Opens
Noon: Potluck Lunch. Please bring something to share if you are joining the group lunch.
1:30 p.m.: Presentation of Meher Baba’s Sadra
1:45 p.m.: Informal Program of Music & Readings — You are invited to read your own favorite Meher Baba story or quote. If you play a musical instrument, please bring it to play or sing for the group.
2:30 p.m. : Tea & Birthday Cake
3:30 p.m.: Arti (prayers, songs, poems, quotes) by Baba’s Tree
5:00 p.m.: Meher Mount Closes
6:00 p.m.: No-host Dinner at Boccali’s (Ojai)
During the Open House you are welcome to spend time at Meher Baba’s touchstones, including Baba’s Tree, enjoy the views, and experience the silence and beauty of nature.
Meher Baba visited in 1956, notably sitting under Baba’s Tree and giving darshan (His blessing) in, what is now, the Darshan Courtyard area. Your visit to Meher Mount is an opportunity to walk in His footsteps and be in this placed filled with His essence.
Children Are Welcome
Children are welcome. There will be an area with children’s activities based on the RSVP of families who plan to attend the event.
For safety reasons, children under nine years must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult at all times. For children nine through 14 years, there should be a responsible adult at Meher Mount who is actively engaged in the supervision of their activities and whereabouts at all time.
No-Host Dinner at Boccali’s after the Celebration
There is a no-host dinner dinner after the event at 6:00 p.m. at Boccali's restaurant for all who are interested. Boccali's is located at 3277 Ojai Santa Paula Road, Ojai, CA. If attending the dinner:
Please arrive at the restaurant by 6:00 p.m. Seating is limited. Later, you might not get served.
Please bring cash or your checkbook.
With such a large group, there are no separate checks. The total bill - including tax and a 20% tip - is divided by all participants. Each person pays that portion of the bill.
The dinner is a delightful time of fellowship and relaxation after a Meher Baba-filled day at Meher Mount.
What to Bring
Your lunch or something to share in the potluck - whichever is most comfortable for you. Your food should be ready to eat and not require additional prep or cooking. The group will be eating on the patio which has limited prep and cooking facilities. Plates, cups, and eating utensils will be provided.
Bring warm clothes in layers, as the temperature will change during the day. The celebration will be primarily indoors, but you will need warm clothes and shoes that can get muddy if you wish to visit Baba’s Tree or walk to Avatar’s Point.
Bring a hat, sunscreen and gloves. February can be both very cool and sunny at Meher Mount.
Check the weather report in case you need to prepare for rain.
