The Unstruck Music of Meher Baba - A Source of Daily Inspiration

By Margaret Magnus
The book The Unstruck Music of Meher Baba: God's Voice is one of the few remaining items belonging to Meher Mount co-founder and lifetime caretaker Agnes Baron (1907-1994).
Unstruck Music is a hand-typed, paper-bound collection of passages by and about Avatar Meher Baba from 14 different sources. These items were compiled by Maud Kennedy, one of Meher Baba's early followers.
A Quote for January 17
The book features a passage for every day of the year. Because this book was a favorite of Agnes' and in honor of her birthday on January 17th, the following is the quotation for that day:
Agnes made a notation (in shorthand) on this passage, and specifically underlined the phrase: "...harmonious adjustment between material and spiritual aspects of life."
Agnes Baron Would Read Passages to Visitors
Sam Ervin, a frequent visitor to Meher Mount, remembers sitting on the lawn with Agnes during an afternoon work break while she would read at least one passage for the day.
"What I remember," added Martha Marklof Aubin," is probably similar to Sam's memory. Agnes would daily read snippets from a book. When we visited she would read passages to us. We often discussed them. She carried the book around with her in the mornings, read and reread the book many times. It is underlined, and notes were written in the margins.
Agnes' original copy was destroyed in the 1985 New Life Fire. "I believe I gave the current one to Agnes after the fire," said Martha, as a replacement for the one lost in the fire. It is not known how many copies were originally made and distributed.
