"April Poppies"
Leslie Bridger
Leslie Bridger, who was Manager/Caretaker at Meher Mount from 2010 to 2013, writes poetry including this one inspired by Spring in California.
"April Poppies"
The poppies on the mountain
Have surrendered to my gaze
Each flower holds a halo
A subtle golden haze.
Each stem knows of its purpose
To hold its crown aloft
Each leaf will gather sunlight
Both delicate and soft.
How many seeds will scatter
When your evening song is nigh?
Your spring becomes a summer
In the twinkling of an eye.
The beauty that surrounds you
I will keep to such a time
When all that’s left are memories
Of an April that’s sublime.
- Leslie Bridger, April 2005
